Odor Control
ChemE Solution has over 20 years of direct experience with some of the most difficult odor control problems in the Northwest. We approach your odor issues with fact and science by evaluating not just water chemistry but actual gas analysis to determine the odor causing agents causing you problems. Then we formulate a solution that will make your air scrubbers, and water chemistry work together with your control system to maximize your potential for odor control.
Air Scrubber Optimization
ChemE Solutions regularly does scrubber audits and can point to equipment issues that affect the performance of your scrubber. We also can design scrubbers systems for new processes and can show how improvements will impact both performance and operating costs.
ChemE Solutions was called in to analyze and address these challanges. ChemE began by assessing all treatment programs, bench-testing chemistries and reviewing the operations of the 40,000 SCFM air scrubbers. ChemE Solutions then proposed key changes in two phases. First, ChemE modified the operating pH of the of scrubbers and begun adding Chlorine Dioxide to the recirculation water. Immediately, odor complaints receded. Next, ChemE initiated an dying systems evaluation. ChemE then made additional adjustments to the systems chemistry and flow pattern, resulting in a further reduction in odor complaints. By 2011, odor complaints were reduced to zero. In addition, the ozone treatment system was written out of the permit and shutdown, eliminating a major source of high-cost maintenance. The essential oils were also completely eliminated, further reducing costs. ChemE’s odor control expertise resulted in the reduction of the plant’s overall operating costs to a fraction of previous costs. ChemE Solutions continues to provide service and process engineering to this client.
